HELP Has Arrived for Healthy Eating!
HELP Healthy Eating for Life Plan® will create a plan for you that includes what, how much and when to eat. HELP will guide you to achieve your weight goal (lose, gain or maintain) by providing a free, personalized, healthy eating plan using foods everybody eats. HELP will even consider your food preferences.
Diets often require special foods and do not include foods you like. Any diet may be successful in the short term if it has fewer calories than you need to maintain weight, but diets don't help you change eating habits for long term or help maintain your lower weight. Most diets are used short term and diets are so different from the way most people usually eat. After people go off a diet, they re-gain weight when they return to their pre-diet eating habits.
Eating plans are a guide for what to eat while allowing you to choose foods you like to create your own menus. Eating plans are different than menus which list specific foods at specific times like orange juice at breakfast or a turkey sandwich at lunch.
Are you a vegetarian or do you eat meat? Milk drinker or not? HELP will generate a personalized, healthy eating plan that fits your food style, not a one size fits all diet based on generic calorie levels typically used by diets.
You can start with the Healthy Body Calculator® to get your personalized calorie goal based on your physical measurements and activities or you can enter your own calorie target in HELP. After HELP creates your dietitian designed eating plan, you will be able to view food lists from which you can choose foods you like to eat to create menus. HELP Essential Foods TM are nutritious, healthy foods most people eat including higher calorie foods for people who need to gain weight. No special foods or diet foods are required. You will be able to print your eating plan and check off foods as you eat, helping you stay focused on your eating. Eating suggestions are included with your plan to help you improve your food habits by changing food behaviors.
Want to change your eating habits that cause weight gain without following a diet and achieve your weight goal? Try HELP. It's free. Just click HELP Healthy Eating for Life Plan® link in the calculator box in the upper left of any Ask the Dietitian® web page. When you reach your weight goal, you can continue to use HELP Healthy Eating for Life Plan® to maintain a healthy weight for the rest of your life.
